Holiday Wreath Illustration

In the spirit of the holiday season, I decided to draw a hexagonal wreath with a lantern in the center. I used the Isometric Drawing Guide feature of Procreate as a reference while drawing the wreath’s shape and other elements like the poinsettia, Christmas lights, hollies, and pine cones. Then, I used the Symmetry Guide to create the intricate designs of the lantern and draw the symmetrical bow at the bottom of the wreath.

As I delved into the world of digital painting using the app Procreate, I wanted to practice my skills by creating a simple illustration. The recent sighting of the Aurora Borealis in Southern Ontario in 2024 became the inspiration for my artwork. I depicted a starry night landscape with the aurora borealis gracefully adorning the sky, accompanied by a shooting star. To enhance the visual impact, I employed a Clipping Mask to isolate the shading of the hills, allowing the aurora borealis’s light to illuminate them.
