To explore the concept of an “image macro” (an image with text superimposed on it), we were given an assignment of creating a meme. The meme I created shows a boy, which represents me, separated from the rest of the kids engaged in a conversation, which symbolizes everyone discussing the popular series Squid Game. Despite its widespread popularity, I have not watched it because I do not have a Netflix subscription, leaving me out of the conversation about the show. This experience inspired me to make the meme as I know that many people who have not seen the show may feel the same way. As I crafted the meme, I used a stock image and infused it with my own input and humour to make it relatable.

Meme Format Assignment
Visual Communication and Design
For this course assignment, we were tasked with creating a meme in a meme format that resonated with us. I chose the meme format that consists of text stating a context and an accompanying image that conveys a relatable reaction. The meme I created is about a time when I carelessly forgot to save a document I was working on and accidentally closed it. I selected the image for the meme from a widely recognized reaction meme known as “Dramatic Dmitry.” This meme shows a man with an exaggerated expression of sadness and regret, which are the exact same emotions I felt when I encountered this situation. In my meme, I aimed to connect with anyone who has experienced a similar situation, whether it is during their academic or professional life.
