Design a Social Media Post Challenge

For this exercise, the goal was to design a social media post for a vacation destination advertisement. This challenge provides an opportunity to apply all the knowledge gained in the course, including text, shapes, and layer styles. To create this social media graphic, I conceptualized a fictional destination called “Pantropiko” with a slogan that reads, “Vacation begins here.” I incorporated icons of a starfish and a dolphin, which can be found in Photoshop’s shape library, to enhance the visual appeal of the graphic. Then, I made a triangle shape and added an Outer Glow that mirrors the glow of the pool handle pointing at the end of the slogan. This design element symbolizes that the vacation’s starting point is the location depicted in the image.

Select Parts of a Portrait Challenge

In this challenge, the objective is to change the background and the hat’s colour using Photoshop’s selection tools. To accomplish this, I employed the Object Selection Tool to select the woman’s hat and the Quick Selection Tool to refine its shape. Then, I filled the selection with a specific colour and set the Blending Mode to “Color” to change the hat’s colour. I repeated this process for the background to change its colour as well.

Layer Mask Exercise

In this exercise, the goal was to edit the images to create a scene where a giraffe is inside a bottle floating in the sea, surrounded by dark clouds in the sky. To achieve this, I created a Layer Mask for all the elements in the picture and used different techniques to show and hide parts of the image. For example, I used black and white gradients for the clouds, selected and filled the bottle and giraffe with black or white, and refined the Layer Mask with a black or white brush. I then transformed and arranged the elements to create a cohesive composition.
